SCF EXPO - Tucson
SCF Safety Works Expo
On April 21, 2011 MBI had the opportunity to once again participate in State Compensation Fund of Arizona's premier work safety exposition. There were a variety of experts presenting on topics within the fields of environmental and occupational safety. This was, as always a great way to learn about newly developed theories reflecting on the latest safety data and techniques created to minimize work place accidents. If you were unable to attend, there will be another Expo in Phoenix on May 24, 2011, and we'll look forward to seeing you there!

"Critical Connections" SCF Small Business Special Edition
Businesses partner with healthcare network
In a medical emergency, knowing who will take care of an injured worker affords a level of trust and security that is reassuring. Kim Gibbs, chief financial officer of Buesing Corp., SCF policyholder, says she appreciates her relationship with the company's designated provider, MBI Occupational Healhcare. Phoenix-based Beusing Corp, is an excavation contractor in the construction industry and has about 75 employees. When a Beusing Corp. worker was injured during a weekend, Gibbs called MBI. She knew the MBI professional on call, who sent a doctor to an MBI clinic to meet the worker. The worker was seen by the doctor, had x-rays done and was able to go home. "That's a very personal level of service," Gibbs says, adding MBI keeps her updated with employees' conditions. "They call me directly to tell me what's going on and the seriousness of an injury." MBI is a member of SCF's Preferred Connection Network, also known as the PCN. The PCN saves money on claims costs, but Gibbs says other factors were more important in deciding to have a designated provider. "You look at all sides of it - keeping our costs at a minimum and keeping our employees working and being sure they're getting good care," Gibbs says. "We're not just looking at the economic impact. We look at the safety of the employee and the care of the employee."
